Mr Prins Perera joined Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc., in 1989. Having served in several departments within the Bank he was assigned to the Bangladesh Office as Head of Treasury to start up Treasury Operations in 2003. During this short period of two years, he was also involved in aligning the foreign operation’s objectives and functions of the Bank. Upon his return to Sri Lanka in recognition his Managerial capabilities he was promoted to Corporate Management in 2009 and currently heads the Treasury Division as Head of Global Markets. Currently, he continues to provide leadership, guidance and advice in attaining the net FX target set for the Bangladesh Operations each year.
He is responsible in achieving the set budgeted NPBT for the year and increase the remittance inflow of the Bank. He is also involved in managing the currency risk since the Bank engages in a substantial amount of transactions on a daily basis in foreign currencies mostly concentrated on large exporters and importers. He is involved in the consolidation of the Bank’s foreign operations which process involves the consolidation of profits earned in foreign currency, whilst managing the risks associated with transactions. This also involves the creating and investing and selling of derivatives including interest rates and currency swaps
He has a Certificate in Treasury & Forex Operations conducted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Mr Perera is currently reading for a Masters in Financial Economics at the University of Colombo.
He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka. He is the Head of the Primary Dealers Unit of Commercial Bank and has also been the President of the Primary Dealers’ Association over the last two years.
He is also an Associate Member of ACMA and CGMA.
